How It Functions
The word laser, in this context, is an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of non-toxic radiation. Administered at low fluence levels on the electromagnetic spectrum, the wavelengths that the Soprano XLi utilizes are monochromatic, coherent, and collimated. This advanced laser and light source uses the principle of selective photothermolysis to eliminate hair and its potential regrowth without damaging the surrounding skin. Selective photothermolysis functions by delivering energy by photons to penetrate the outermost layer of the skin, this minimal absorption by the epidermis targets hair follicles and gradually heats hair shafts without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. During a laser hair removal treatment, minimally invasive and controlled light passes through the skin and is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. This absorption raises the temperature of the hair follicle and thermally destroys the cells responsible for regrowth.
